MYTHBUSTERS

LAUNCH PROMO FOR DISCOVERY SCIENCE

Is it possible to shoot and complete post on an effects heavy launch promo in just over two weeks?

We set up this ambitious experiment with the two new hosts of Mythbusters to find out.

BIG MACHINE produced, directed and completed post on this fun, frozen-moment in time of a Mythbusters experiment gone wrong.

MONSTER WEEK

PROMO FOR ANIMAL PLANET

It sounded like a scary proposition: ambitious visual effects and a very tight schedule. While some other companies would have run the other way, we stared fear in the face and created an amazing spot for Animal Planet’s Monster Week 2015.

Big Machine director Steve Petersen crafted this spot to combine the best of practical creature FX and CG to create a freakish and memorable experience.

GAMER'S GUIDE / CLEAN ROOM

LAUNCH PROMO FOR DISNEY XD

BIG MACHINE produced and directed the launch campaign for the new Disney XD series Gamer’s Guide To Just About Everything.

The second spot, in the series of 3, features the main character Connor coming home to a messy room that his mother wants him to clean. Conor has a trick to making it as painless as possible. He grabs a dust buster and some VR googles and enters a world where everything looks and behaves like a video game. He blasts the mess away into oblivion.

BIG MACHINE Director Steve Petersen, an avid gamer himself, led the team to create an authentic feeling reality-meets-game experience.

Creative Director Ken Carlson led the VFX team to re-create Conor’s bedroom as a CG asset. The VFX team used photogrammetry techniques to rebuild the set as a 3D model complete with textures based on the real-world environment.

KIRBY BUCKETS

LAUNCH CAMPAIGN FOR DISNEY XD

BIG MACHINE produced and directed the launch promo for the new Disney XD series Kirby Buckets. It’s the first of its kind promo to feature a 360 degree view of the world integrated with animation.

A special 6 camera rig was mounted to bicycles, go-karts, wagons and even the cast in this high energy music video style spot.

The promo features Kirby, a 13 year old, who dreams of becoming a famous animator. Kirby sees his drawings take shape as he and his best friends go on unpredictable adventures.

BIG MACHINE director Steve Petersen worked with the 3 main cast members to customize their performances to take advantage of the 360 degree format. The BIG MACHINE animation team then integrated the 6 cameras into a single image.

The spot features both the 360 degree footage and fish-eye footage shot with a conventional digital cinema camera.

BIG MACHINE created this fun, colorful look at the many cultural perspectives of Hispanic Heritage Month for Disney XD. Playful 3D animation and cell-animated typography create a vibrant and dynamic spot that is attention getting and memorable.

This spot is the second spot in a series that BIG MACHINE created for Hispanic Heritage Month.  This first spot is a live action spot that can be viewed HERE.

Snake City

Promo for nat geo wild

Africa is home to some of the deadliest snakes in the world and BIG MACHINE is home to killer design and editorial. So what better combo to promote the series “Snake City” on Nat Geo WILD!

The spot culminates with a snake slithering its way past the “Snake City” tune-in. We investigated shooting a snake on green screen, or using existing green screen snake footage (yeah, there’s such a thing), but we needed complete control over the speed and performance which meant we had to create a CG snake.

We like to think our CG snake strikes the right balance between realism and coolness. Sorry, pun intended.
